Cashback sites

If you shop online, cashback sites are something you should definitely know about. Cashback sites are websites that have affiliate relationships with hundreds of different online retailers (meaing that they earn a commission for referring you) and offer you a percentage of their commission back for shopping through them. They also publish coupon codes and deals for additional savings.

When I shop online I tend to get everything I want in my shopping cart first and then figure out which cashback will give me the most money back. I go to that site, click through to the retailer, and complete my purchase.

Many cashback sites give you an initial amount (ex. $5) for signing up, and each have a different payout schedule. Some require you to earn a certain amount (ex. $20) before they pay you while others pay quarterly, regardless of the amount. All cashback sites are free to sign up for. Here's a list of the cashback sites I use and recommend:

Ebates: Offers some of the highest cashback percentages at over 1200 online stores, including eBay, Groupon, Target, etc. Cashback paid out quarterly (Feb. 15th, May 15th, Aug. 15th, Nov. 15th). I believe this site also gives you $5 for signing up.
Big Crumbs:  Another great cashback site with high percentages. This site pays you monthly via PayPal with no minimum payout amount.
Shop At Home: Save up to 30% at over 3000 online stores. Get $5 just for signing up!
Fatwallet: Another great cashback site. Fatwallet also hosts one of the best deal forums on the web, where users post about all kids of deals they find online or in store. Another great deal forum that I use a lot is Slickdeals.net.

Another option for earning while you shop online is to shop through your airline (United Mileage Plus Mall, etc. ) or through your credit card (ex. Discover).
